Reaching skyward, soaking in the Sun before Winter takes hold.
Lost memories of Spring and Summer fading away like dreams.
In the coolness of this Autumn morning, what is real is now.

A mountain of wooden peaks and cliffs rising to meet the Sun.
Climbing with the mind, grasping here and there, reaching the summit.
Standing atop the mountain, what can be seen beyond your mind?

Withered and weathered by years gone by with more to come tomorrow.
How many tomorrows are remaining no one knows for sure.
Why worry about what may or may not come, best enjoy the Now.

Golden rays of warmth from the Great Light bringing forth the new day.
Hues of ivory and timber causing the mind confusion.
Is what I see an image created from within or without?

In the dead of the Winter season, much around, dull and dormant.
A select few dare to stand out and reveal their vibrancy.
Who will notice their beauty and boldness in the cold morning?

Scattered seeds of randomness, intention elsewhere unfocused.
So many Suns tethered to the soil, reaching for the Heavens.
What will the Sunflowers do when they reach the Sun of the sky?

The secrets of yesterday and tomorrow before your eyes.
So much time has passed and yet, so much more time has yet to come.
I cannot help but question: how much time does a seed contain?

In a field lies the remains of a giant of yesteryear.
A story is revealed by what they held dear within their roots.
To know their story in full, look above, around and beyond.

A bright and cold Winter morning reveals Nature’s handiwork.
Frosty crystals covering bold red sumac without intent.
I wish to know: who is the artist beneath this perfection?
